Dr Ishaan, qualified as a medical doctor in 1997 and did his Psychiatry specialization in the UK. He is a fully qualified senior consultant psychiatrist in the UK who believes very strongly that medications are only part of the answer and that functional rehabilitation is crucial to helping people with ADHD and ASD live full and productive lives. Instead of prescribing medication, he works together with the patient in a holistic way to achieve optimal results for them.
He specializes in the assessment of ADHD and Autism but is also highly skilled in Motivational Interviewing, Relationship Therapy, counselling and psychological therapy such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for addictions and psychological therapy for ADHD. One of his other special interests is insomnia, which is where people have difficulty sleeping, and he is experienced in assessing and providing non-medication therapy for insomnia.
He loves teaching, and will teach anyone who wants to learn more about mental health conditions and their management. He is also very keenly interested in corporate psychological work such as helping organisations increase productivity and the resilience of their employees.
His book – "The practical handbook of psychiatry, by psychiatrists for non-psychiatrists" - has sold extremely well internationally as well as locally, and he has developed Quibble, an app designed to help people communicate better especially if this is impacting on their relationship with others.
